Carpeted Stairs & Slabs | Carpeted Stairs Mod
Carpeted Stairs & Slabs is a Minecraft mod that lets you place carpets on stairs and slabs. It works with any vanilla or modded combination automatically.
Carpeted Stairs & Slabs is a lightweight Minecraft mod by MehVahdJukaar that lets you place carpets directly on top of stairs and slabs. Instead of awkward gaps or clunky workarounds, you get a custom-fitted carpet covering that adapts to the shape of the block underneath and blends with the texture below. It is a small, focused decorative mod and a handy companion to any build that leans on stairs and slabs.

What Is Carpeted Stairs & Slabs?
Carpeted Stairs & Slabs is a cosmetic mod for Minecraft Java Edition that adds one simple capability: laying carpets over stairs and slabs. To use it, you place a carpet item on an upward-facing stair or slab block, and the carpet conforms to that block's shape. Break the block normally to remove it. The mod only adds a single block to the game, so the footprint on your modpack is minimal.
It was created by MehVahdJukaar, the author behind Supplementaries and Snowy Spirit. The standalone project has since been merged into a larger mod called Amendments, so newer Minecraft versions live there rather than in this standalone download.
What Carpeted Stairs & Slabs Adds
The mod keeps its scope deliberately narrow, which is part of the appeal:
- Carpets on stairs and slabs: place any carpet on any upward-facing stair or slab and it shapes itself to the block.
- Automatic modded support: works with stairs, slabs, and carpets from other mods without extra configuration.
- Easy removal: break the block the way you normally would and the carpet comes off.
- One added block: a tiny footprint means it plays nicely in large modpacks.
No more awkward gaps or clunky workarounds. The Carpeted Stairs & Slabs Mod works its magic on any stair, slab, or carpet combination, whether vanilla or modded.

How to Install Carpeted Stairs & Slabs
The mod runs on both Fabric and Forge, so pick the loader you already use. If you are starting fresh, our Minecraft Fabric and Minecraft Forge guides walk you through setting up a loader profile.
- Install Fabric or Forge for your Minecraft version.
- Download the mod JAR from the version table on this page, picking the build that matches your loader and Minecraft version.
- Grab the required dependency, Moonlight Lib (and Fabric API if you are on Fabric).
- Drop the mod JAR and its dependencies into your
modsfolder. - Launch Minecraft with the mod-loader profile and start decorating.
If you want a broader decorative overhaul, pair it with something like Dusty Decorations for more rustic blocks to carpet.

Compatibility and Known Issues
The mod is designed to be compatible out of the box. Because it hooks into the stair, slab, and carpet block types rather than adding its own variants, it works automatically with most modded content. The main caveats:
- Moonlight Lib is required: the mod depends on it, so install it alongside the main JAR.
- No longer updated: the standalone build was last updated in October 2023 and has not moved to newer Minecraft versions. For newer versions, look at Amendments, which absorbs this mod's features.
- Client and server: both sides need the mod installed, so make sure your server matches.
FAQ
Does Carpeted Stairs & Slabs work with modded stairs and carpets?
Yes. The mod hooks into the stair, slab, and carpet block types directly, so modded combinations work automatically without per-mod config.
Do I need Moonlight Lib?
Yes. Moonlight Lib is a required dependency for both the Fabric and Forge builds. Fabric users also need Fabric API.
Is the project still maintained?
The standalone Carpeted Stairs & Slabs is effectively finished, last updated October 2023 with over a million downloads to date. Active development continues under Amendments.
Can I remove the carpet without breaking the block?
Break the block the way you normally would and the carpet comes off with it. The mod keeps interaction simple and predictable.
