The Epic Fight Wukong Moveset is an addon for the Epic Fight combat overhaul that ports the look and feel of Black Myth Wukong into Minecraft. It hands you the JinGuBang staff, three swappable stances, and a deep pool of animations lifted straight from the source game. If you have ever wanted to spin a staff to swat arrows out of the air or chain a perfect dodge into a skyfall strike, this is the moveset that gets you there.

The JinGuBang Staff and Its Three Stances

The addon introduces a brand new weapon type called the wk_staff, modeled on the legendary staff from Black Myth Wukong. While you hold it, the staff swaps your entire combat kit over to a stance based system.

You switch between stances with Z, X, and C. The current build centers on the smash stance, which is where most of the heavy hitting moves live. The author has flagged that more stances are planned, so the kit is built to grow over time rather than lock you into one playstyle forever.

Black Myth Wukong Combat Animations

Every animation in this addon is pulled directly from Black Myth Wukong. That covers the small stuff like idle, walking, running, and dashing, plus the full combat chain: five basic attacks, two jump attacks, a one handed staff spin, a two handed staff spin, the resolute strike, the skyfall strike, five focus point heavy attacks, and twelve dodge animations spread across four directions plus a perfect dodge.

Staff Spin as a Living Shield

Press V for a one handed staff spin, or hold V together with W for the two handed version. The spin is not just for show. It blocks arrows and any other entity you list in the config file, which turns a flashy animation into a real defensive tool you can lean on mid fight.

Heavy Attacks and Focus Stacks

The skill key is what drives the heavy side of the kit. Tap it to fire a heavy attack, or hold it to charge. In the smash stance you can even move while charging, so you wind up a hit while repositioning.

The deeper mechanic is the focus stack system. Press the skill key right after a basic attack (except the final hit in the chain) and you spend one stack to trigger a special attack. The resolute strike is the smash stance special, and it can block incoming damage. Land it cleanly and you can press the skill key again to spend another stack on the skyfall strike. The jump attack heavy is the nuclear option, clearing every stack you hold in exchange for a chunk of extra damage.

One important setup tip from the author: bind the weapon innate skill key to something other than your light attack key, or charging will not work.

Wukong Dodge and Perfect Dodges

Hold the staff and you learn the Wukong Dodge automatically. It replaces your normal dodge, costs less stamina, and refunds a stack whenever you dodge successfully. The real payoff is the perfect dodge, which lets you build a charge without wiping your current stacks, so you stay primed for the next big move. Drop the staff and the skill unlearns itself, keeping the kit tied to the weapon rather than your character sheet.

Installing the Wukong Moveset Addon

Because this is an addon rather than a standalone mod, you need three pieces in place before it will load.

  1. Install Forge and drop the matching JAR into your mods folder.
  2. Add the Epic Fight mod itself, since this addon rides on top of its combat framework.
  3. Add GeckoLib, which is required for the JinGuBang to appear as a default weapon.

If you want a broader walkthrough of the mods folder and loader setup, our guide to installing Minecraft mods covers the basics. For more combat variety from the same family of addons, the Epic Paladins and Epic Samurais movesets pair well with this one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Wukong Moveset still being maintained? The most recent release shipped in April 2025, and the project has been quiet since then. Treat it as stable on the versions it targets, and check the project page for any current status before banking on new updates.

Do I need the Epic Fight mod to use it? Yes. This is an addon that builds on the Epic Fight combat framework, so Epic Fight has to be installed and working first.

What other dependencies does it need? GeckoLib is required. Without it, the JinGuBang staff will not show up as a default weapon.

Does it work on servers? It runs on both the client and the server side, so a server install is fine as long as every player has the addon loaded.

How do I switch stances? Press Z, X, or C to swap between the available stances while holding the staff. The smash stance is the one fully built out right now.
