In this simple guide, we will show you how to install Iris Shaders. there will be 3 methods, two through the Iris installer and one with the fabric loader.
First Method:
For Standalone Use If you just want to play around with Iris shaders without any other mods, then this method is for you!
- Head on over to the Iris shaders Download page.
- Click on the “Download universal JAR” button.
- Save the file anywhere on your computer and run it.
- Java is needed to run the installer. If Java isn’t installed on your system, download and install it.
- The installer window should pop up.
- Under the “Select game version” dropdown, pick your preferred Minecraft version.
- Click the “Install” button.
- If you see a prompt that says “Microsoft Store / Xbox”, select that option if you’ve updated to the new launcher. Otherwise, choose “Standalone (Win32)”.
- If everything goes smoothly, you should see a “Completed!” message below the full progress bar.
- Close the installer.
- The next time you open the Minecraft launcher, you should see a new profile with Iris shaders! Select this profile to play with the shaders.
Second Method:
If you want to use Iris shaders with other Fabric mods, use this method. Just make sure to check the Compatibility with other mods to ensure they all work properly with Iris and Sodium.
- Follow steps 1-5 from the From First Method section.
- Under “Installation type”, select “Fabric install”.
- Follow steps 6-9 from the For First Method section.
- Place your other mods in the mods folder.
- The next time you open the Minecraft launcher, you should see a new Fabric profile with Iris shaders and your other mods! Select this profile to play with all your mods.
Third Method:
Same as the second method but instead of installing fabric through the iris installer we will use the official installer

- If you followed the Guide correctly you should have the same profile as in the second method section. Now click on “installation” and then on the folder icon button.
- A new window will open select the Mods folder
- Drag and drop the iris .jar file into the Mods folder.
- Iris Shaders is now installed and ready to use ! to verify just start Minecraft and go to Options>Video Settings, there should be a Shader Pack option
To enjoy your shaders place them in the shaderpacks folder found in %APPDATA%.minecraftshaderpacks
