If you have ever sunk a hundred hours into charging a Time in a Bottle, only to drop it in lava or misplace it mid-fight, this small companion add-on fixes the part that stings the most. Time in a Bottle Curio Support bolts the popular time-charging item onto the Curios trinket system, so your bottle lives in its own slot instead of your hotbar. You keep it equipped, you keep it safe, and you trigger its effect with a keybind instead of juggling items.

How the add-on works

The base Time in a Bottle mod lets you passively bank time and then spend that stored time to speed up nearby machines, crops, and furnaces. The catch has always been that the bottle sits on your hotbar, which means you fumble through your inventory to use it and you risk losing hundreds of hours of charge to a single death. This add-on moves the bottle into a Curios slot, where it stays equipped through normal play.

What the add-on changes

  • Adds a dedicated Curio slot for your Time in a Bottle
  • Lets you activate the bottle with a keybind (default: g) instead of holding it
  • Lets you toggle the on-screen time tracker with a keybind (default: h)
  • Keeps the bottle equipped so a death no longer wipes your stored time

The keybind activation is the part most players notice first. You no longer have to park the bottle on your hotbar to use it, which frees a slot for something you actually want to swing. The overlay toggle (default: h) hides the HUD readout when you are taking screenshots or just want a cleaner screen, then brings it back the moment you want to check your balance.

Why a Curio slot matters

Curios is the standard trinket framework most modern modpacks already ship, and this add-on rides on top of it. Because the bottle behaves like any other worn trinket, it survives the usual inventory shuffle that loses items, and you never have to think about which hotbar slot it lives in. For anyone running the Time in a Bottle mod inside a larger pack, that is the real value. You get the fast-forward effect without babysitting one specific item.

If you like that kind of trinket-slot convenience, the Spyglass of Curios mod does something similar for the spyglass.

Installing the add-on

Drop-in install, but order matters. Install the Curios framework first, then the base Time in a Bottle mod, then this add-on. All three jars land in your mods folder. If you are new to mod loading, the general Minecraft mod install guide walks through the folder and launcher setup, and the same steps apply here. On a Forge-based pack you can follow the Forge setup notes for the launcher profile side.

Frequently asked questions

Does this work without the base Time in a Bottle mod?

No. This is a companion add-on, not a standalone mod. You need the base Time in a Bottle mod installed first, plus the Curios framework that the add-on hooks into.

Can I keep using the bottle on my hotbar?

You can, but you would be giving up the main reason to run the add-on. Equipping it in the Curio slot is what protects the stored time and unlocks the keybind activation.

What happens to the stored time when I die?

Because the bottle stays equipped in a Curio slot, it follows whatever death-handling rule your pack applies to worn trinkets rather than dropping as loose inventory loot. Check your gravestone or keep-inventory setup if your pack strips trinkets on death.

Is the add-on still being maintained?

The last release is from January 2025. Check the project page for current status before you build a long-term world around it.
