TipTapShow is a keystrokes display mod for Minecraft that renders your key presses on-screen as you play. Built by Spyxar for Fabric, it's the spiritual successor to the classic keystrokes mods that never made it past older Minecraft versions. If you stream, record PvP clips, or just want visual feedback on your movement, TipTapShow brings that HUD back to modern releases.

What Is TipTapShow?

TipTapShow is a client-side Fabric mod that renders an on-screen overlay of the keys you're holding. WASD highlights as you move, left and right clicks illuminate when you attack or use items, and the spacebar flashes on each jump. It's lightweight, MIT-licensed, and was last updated in June 2026.

What TipTapShow Adds

The mod is intentionally small and does one thing well. The overlay includes:

Movement keys: WASD light up the instant you press them, so a viewer can follow your inputs in real time.
Mouse buttons: left-click and right-click glow when you attack or interact.
Spacebar: jumps register as a quick flash on the overlay.
Custom colors: every color in the HUD is editable through the config, so you can match it to your UI theme or brand.

How to Install TipTapShow

Because TipTapShow is Fabric-only, you'll need a Fabric installation before anything else. The short version:

Install the Fabric loader, then drop Fabric API into your mods folder. It's a hard dependency.
Grab the TipTapShow .jar from the download button on this page.
Drop the .jar into your .minecraft/mods folder.
Launch the game with the Fabric profile and the overlay appears automatically.

Compatibility and Known Issues

A few things worth knowing before you add TipTapShow to a pack:

Client-side. It runs purely on your client, so it's safe in multiplayer and won't trip server-side anti-cheat.
Fabric API required. The mod won't load without it.
F1 HUD fix. Older builds kept rendering the overlay when you hid the HUD with F1. The latest builds fix that, so run the current release.

FAQ

Does TipTapShow work on Forge or NeoForge? No. It's Fabric-only, and the author hasn't published a Forge port. For NeoForge setups you'd need a separate keystrokes mod.

Is TipTapShow allowed on multiplayer servers? Yes. It's a client-side display mod with no gameplay advantage, so it doesn't trip most anti-cheat. That said, check your specific server's rules if you're unsure.

Do I need Fabric API? Yes. Fabric API is a mandatory dependency, and the mod won't start without it. ModMenu and Cloth Config are optional but recommended for easier config.

Can I change the overlay colors and position? Yes. Colors are fully editable through the config, and with ModMenu + Cloth Config installed you get an in-game menu for size, opacity, position, and theme.
