Snuffles | Frosty Fluffy Mob Mod
Snuffles is a Minecraft mod that adds fluffy frost-tongued mobs to snowy biomes, with shearing, slimeball hairstyles, and cozy fluff decor blocks.
Few mobs make a snowy biome feel as alive as the Snuffles do. These round, tongue-wagging fluff balls wander cold biomes trailing snowflakes behind them, and they hide a surprisingly deep set of interactions once you start breeding, shearing, and styling them. What looks like a cute cosmetic pet is really a small farming loop built around frost, potatoes, and fluff.
Meet the Snuffles Mob
Snuffles are the heart of the mod. They spawn in cold and snowy biomes, where their frosty fur sets them apart from every other vanilla mob. A frosty Snuffle leaves a trail of snowflakes wherever it walks, so a herd moving through a spruce forest turns the ground into a gentle snowstorm.

That frosty coating is not permanent. You can melt it away with magma cream or fire, which is useful if you want a warmer-looking Snuffle for a build.

The fun really starts when you hold potatoes. Snuffles love them, and a potato in your hand sends them flapping their tongues and rushing toward you for an adorable little charge. That same food is what breeds them, so stock a few stacks before you start a herd.
Temperature matters to these creatures. A warmed Snuffle regains its frosty look by standing outside during snowfall or by walking into powder snow, so a cold pen keeps them fluffy without any extra work from you.

Snuffles also have a silly side. Use a slimeball on one and it cycles through four unique hairstyles, letting you give each member of your herd a distinct look.

Shearing Snuffles and Frosty Fluff Blocks
The mod pairs its mob with a set of decorative blocks built around their fluff. Snuffle Fluff and Snuffle Fluff Carpets give a cozy texture to floors and furniture, while the Frosty Fluff variants go a step further by producing snowflake particles when you step on them. Place a Frosty Fluff block with empty space underneath and you will see snowflake particles drift down through the gap.

Getting the fluff is half the charm. Shear a Snuffle the way you would shear a sheep, and the excess fluff comes off while their small eyes peek through for the first time. The frosty coat grows back over time, so the same few Snuffles can keep a whole build supplied.

How to Install Snuffles
The official build runs on Forge and NeoForge, with an unofficial Fabric port available separately. Picking the right jar for your loader is the only tricky part.
- Install a compatible mod loader first. For the vanilla Forge path, follow our Minecraft Forge setup guide, or use the general how to install Minecraft mods walkthrough if you are new to this.
- Drop the Snuffles jar into your
modsfolder. - Launch the game with the loader profile you just set up.
- Start a world, head to a snowy biome, and wait for the fluff balls to appear.
Because Snuffles is a mobs-and-decor mod rather than a core library, it has no required dependencies beyond the loader itself. It pairs well with other cold-biome content, so try it alongside something like the Caracal mod if you want more wildlife roaming your winters.
Snuffles FAQ
How do I breed Snuffles?
Hold potatoes. Nearby Snuffles will flap their tongues and run toward you, and feeding them potatoes triggers breeding. Keep a small potato farm going and your herd grows fast.
How do I get fluff for the decorative blocks?
Shear a Snuffle. The sheared fluff goes into your inventory, and the Snuffle's coat regrows over time. Frosty Snuffles give frosty fluff variants, so warm one up or cool one down depending on which block you need.
Why did my Snuffle lose its frosty fur?
It got too warm. Magma cream or fire strips the frost away, and the Snuffle stays bare until it cools back down. Let it stand in snowfall or walk into powder snow and the frosty coating returns.
Can I change a Snuffle's appearance?
Yes. A slimeball cycles through four hairstyles, so you can tell individual Snuffles apart and give your herd some personality.
Do Snuffles spawn naturally?
They do. Snuffles spawn in cold and snowy biomes on their own, so you do not need to breed your first pair. Just explore until you find a trail of snowflakes.
