Automobility | Custom Cars & Vehicles Mod
Automobility is a Minecraft mod that lets you craft customizable cars, drive them across the world, and build custom racetracks with slopes and dash panels.
Automobility turns Minecraft into a vehicle workshop. You craft frames, engines, and wheels on an Auto Mechanic Table, bolt them together in an Automobile Assembler, then take your finished car for a spin. The mod is the work of FoundationGames and is still in beta, so new driving toys and building blocks land on a regular cadence. If you have ever wanted a proper car mod for Minecraft that you can build, tune, and race, this one covers all three.
Craft and Assemble Your First Automobile
Every car starts at the Auto Mechanic Table. This workstation lets you craft the three core parts every vehicle needs, the frame, the engine, and the wheels. You can also craft attachments here, but those come later.
Once your parts are ready, place an Automobile Assembler in the world and drop the components onto it. The assembler stitches them into a working car you can hop into right away. Built something you regret? A Crowbar dismantles a vehicle so you can reclaim the parts and try again.

Tune Your Ride with Attachments
Attachments are where Automobility gets fun. Crafted on the same Auto Mechanic Table, they slot onto your automobile to add new functionality and utility. A turbocharger gives you extra speed, off-road tires improve grip on rough terrain, and other add-ons handle utility roles. You decide what each car is for, a flat-out racer, a rugged explorer, or a utility hauler.

Build Racetracks with Slopes and Dash Panels
Automobility is not just about the cars, it ships building blocks for the roads they run on. Slopes let you shape ramps and hills, Dash Panels give vehicles a speed boost when they roll over them, and Off-Road tiles change how tires grip the surface. Together they turn a flat survival base into a proper circuit with jumps, banking, and tricky terrain.
The latest builds lean into this side of the mod hard. Autopilot controllers and marker signs let vehicles follow set paths, traffic flow makes autopiloted cars stop behind one another, and automobile pressure plates react when a car rolls over them. You can even build a honk-happy traffic system where autopilot vehicles blast their horn if you wander into their lane.

Get Behind the Wheel and Drive
Once your car is assembled, the controls are simple. Hold W to accelerate, S to brake or reverse, A and D to steer, and Space to drift or deploy an attachment. Drifting is the trick to keep on learning, since a clean drift keeps your speed through tight corners.
Controller support is available too. Older builds of the mod pair with MidnightControls, while the current Fabric release works with Controlify. If you prefer a gamepad over a keyboard, those companion mods are worth installing alongside it.

Lay Down Roads and Racetracks
The building blocks from earlier pair naturally with the driving mechanics. Slopes form ramps, dash panels act as boost pads, and off-road tiles punish cars without the right tires. Stack them together and you can lay out a full racing line around your base, complete with shortcuts and hazards. Because the blocks are real Minecraft blocks, they fit just as well in survival as they do in a creative build project.

How to Install Automobility
Installation is the same as any loader-based mod. Pick the build that matches your loader, then drop the JAR into your mods folder.
- Fabric users also need Fabric API, since Automobility depends on it. New to mod loaders generally? Start with our guide to installing Minecraft mods.
- Forge and NeoForge users need no extra dependencies, the mod ships self-contained for those loaders. Our Forge overview walks through that setup if you have not used it before.
- For recipe viewing, add EMI on Fabric or Quilt and JEI on Forge.
If cars are your thing, pair Automobility with other vehicle mods on the site. Trep's Cars adds road vehicles in a similar spirit, the SBW Vintage Vehicle Pack brings classic rides, and Laendli Transport rounds out your travel options.
Automobility FAQ
Is Automobility finished?
No. The mod is openly described as a beta and is not feature-complete yet. The maintainer ships new content and fixes in regular releases, so the feature set keeps growing.
Do I need any other mods installed?
Only on Fabric, which requires Fabric API. Forge and NeoForge builds have no required dependencies. A recipe viewer like EMI or JEI is optional but recommended so you can browse every crafting recipe.
Can I dismantle a car after building it?
Yes. Use a Crowbar on a vehicle to disassemble it and recover the parts. This makes it cheap to experiment with different frames, engines, and attachments until the build feels right.
Can I add my own vehicle types?
Yes. The current build supports data packs and resource packs for custom vehicle types, and the developer ships an example addon on the source repo as a template to follow.
Does it support controllers?
Yes. Older releases work with MidnightControls, and the current Fabric release works with Controlify. Install the matching companion mod to drive with a gamepad.
