Decent Biomes Mod | New Biomes & Trees
Decent Biomes Mod adds new Minecraft biomes like the Enhanced Cherry Grove and Luminescent groves, plus palm and apple trees with harvestable fruit.
The Decent Biomes Mod broadens your Minecraft world with a handful of subtle, vanilla-friendly biomes instead of flooding it with content. You get cherry trees, coconut palms, and apple trees that drop harvestable fruit, alongside matching building blocks and food items. It leans on the Trails and Tales cherry grove as inspiration and adapts that look for players running older versions of the game, with performance and compatibility kept in mind.
What the Decent Biomes Mod adds to your world
The centerpiece is a set of seven fresh biomes spread gently through the overworld. Rather than rewriting world generation, the mod slips new terrain into existing climate zones, so you stumble on it naturally while exploring. Each biome brings its own trees, foliage, and decorative blocks, and a couple of them introduce functional crops you can farm and cook with.
Enhanced Cherry Grove and the glowing Luminescent biome
The Enhanced Cherry Grove borrows its mood from the 2023 Trails and Tales cherry biome. Pink-leafed Cherry Trees dot the forest, and when their leaves decay they sometimes drop cherries you can eat or use in recipes. Matching building blocks let you keep that warm pink palette going in your base.

The Luminescent biome bends light in strange ways. The ground faintly glows across this mystical landscape, and it tends to spawn beside warmer areas like savannas and badlands. The otherworldly atmosphere makes building here uniquely satisfying, and it only gets more striking once night falls.

This one is a personal favorite. It looks beautiful during the day and transforms into something even more breathtaking after dark.

Autumnal forests, golden fields, and floral fields
The remaining biomes round the collection out. The Autumnal Orange Oak Forest, Autumnal Red Oak Forest, and Autumnal Yellow Birch Forest blend together with gradients of fall color. They frequently generate next to one another, so you can walk from orange into red into yellow canopy without a hard transition.

The sunny Golden Fields biome paints wide open landscapes in shining golden wildflowers. Building in these fields lets you capture that radiant ambiance right outside your door.

Delicate pastel flowers carpet the grassy Floral Fields. The range of flower colors makes this an idyllic spot for dye farming or simply enjoying the view.

Palm trees, apple trees, and harvestable fruit
Beyond new biomes, Decent Biomes introduces flora you can actually use. Palm Trees sprout on beachfronts and yield wood, coconuts, and vines. Coconuts can be eaten for nourishment or crafted into recipes and decorations.

Apple Trees appear in some forest biomes and produce apples you can gather and cook with.

How to install the Decent Biomes Mod
The setup is the same as any small world-gen add-on. Install Minecraft Forge or NeoForge first, drop the Decent Biomes JAR into your mods folder, and launch the game. If you run the Fabric version, also add Fabric API and the TerraBlender library, which the mod relies on for smooth biome injection. For a full walkthrough of the mods-folder step, see our how to install Minecraft mods guide.
Because the mod is still in an alpha phase, the author notes that core content may still change between builds. Back up your world before adding it to a long-running save, and avoid swapping it in and out of an existing world mid-playthrough.
Compatibility and performance notes
Decent Biomes runs on the server side and is designed to be light on world generation overhead, which keeps it friendly for lower-end machines. It plays nicely with other biome and structure mods, though heavy world-gen overhauls like Cinderscapes may compete for the same climate slots, so test a fresh world first if you stack them. It also pairs cleanly with village improvements such as Better Villages, since the two touch different parts of generation.
TerraBlender is recommended for all loaders, not just Fabric, because it is what lets the new biomes slot into vanilla climate zones without replacing them wholesale.
Decent Biomes Mod FAQ
What does the Decent Biomes Mod add?
It adds seven new biomes, including the Enhanced Cherry Grove, the glowing Luminescent biome, three autumnal forests, Golden Fields, and Floral Fields. It also adds coconut palm trees, apple trees, cherries, coconuts, and matching decorative blocks.
Does it need other mods to run?
The Fabric build requires Fabric API, and TerraBlender is recommended across all versions so the biomes inject cleanly into vanilla generation. Forge and NeoForge builds have no extra hard dependency beyond the loader itself.
Is it safe for an existing survival world?
It works on existing worlds, but because the mod is in alpha and core content may still change, the safest move is to back up your world first. New biomes will generate in unexplored chunks rather than overwriting terrain you have already visited.
Is Decent Biomes still being maintained?
The last release landed in July 2024, and the project has been quiet since. Treat it as feature-complete rather than actively updated, and check the project page for any new uploads before relying on it for a new server.
