Epic Paladins Mod | 3D Paladin Armor Sets
Epic Paladins Mod for Minecraft adds powerful 3D armor sets and tools forged from rare ores and Nether Stars at the smithing table. Become a true Paladin.
Epic Paladins turns the endgame armor grind into a quest worth finishing. Built by Bandit_Bytes with custom 3D models from VeroxUniverse and PixelDreamStudios, the mod drops new ores across the Overworld, the Nether, and the End, then asks you to forge their metal into Paladin gear at the smithing table. The payoff is armor that outclasses vanilla sets in durability, resistance, and special effects, plus matching tool sets and a few bosses standing between you and the best materials.
Mine the Ores That Power Each Armor Set
Every armor set starts underground. Epic Paladins adds five ores, each living in a different part of the world, so you will be exploring rather than strip mining one vein.
Arclight: Bedrock to Y30

Bloodstone: Bedrock to Y30

Cryorium: Bedrock to Y30

Moonlight: Y10 to Y40 (Nether)

Jade: Y40 to Y120 (End)

Forge Cores at the Smithing Table
Raw ore is only step one. You combine the four Overworld and Nether ores with gold ingots and a Nether Star to craft Armor Cores, then take those cores to a smithing table along with the right template to produce the finished set. Each upgrade layer adds durability, resistance, and special effects, so the gear scales past anything vanilla offers.

Each ore also comes with its own toolset, so the mining loop feeds straight into better pickaxes, swords, and gear rather than sitting in a chest.

Armor Sets, Tools, and Bosses
The headline feature is the 3D armor. Each set has a distinct silhouette and stat profile, from the angel themed gear to the sculk and jade sets pulled from the End, and the custom models hold up in both first and third person.

Required and Recommended Companion Mods
Epic Paladins leans on one hard dependency and a few quality of life pairings.
- GeckoLib (required). The custom 3D armor models will not load without it. Install GeckoLib first, or the game will crash on startup.
- JEI or REI. Recipes are not obvious by default. A recipe viewer lets you look up each core and template without trial and error.
- Better Combat. Pair the new weapons with Better Combat for smoother attack animations and timing that suits the heavier Paladin blades.
- Combat Roll. Adds a dodge that complements the tankier armor sets when you are fighting the mod's bosses.
How to Install Epic Paladins
- Set up Forge, NeoForge, or Fabric for your Minecraft install first, matching the build you plan to play. Our Minecraft Forge guide walks through the loader setup if you have not done it before.
- Download and install GeckoLib for the same loader and version.
- Drop the Epic Paladins JAR into your
modsfolder. - Launch the game and confirm both mods appear in the mods list. For the full walkthrough including folder location on each OS, see how to install Minecraft mods.
- Install JEI or REI if you want recipe lookup in survival.
Epic Paladins FAQ
What does Epic Paladins add to Minecraft?
It adds custom 3D armor sets, matching tool sets per ore, new ores across the Overworld, Nether, and End, and bosses that gate access to the strongest materials. Armor is forged from cores built with Nether Stars at the smithing table.
Is GeckoLib really required?
Yes. The 3D armor models depend on GeckoLib, so the mod will not start without it. Match GeckoLib to your loader and Minecraft version.
How do I craft the armor?
Mine the five ores, smelt them, then combine four of them with gold ingots and a Nether Star to make Armor Cores. Take a core plus a smithing template to the smithing table to produce the finished armor piece.
Does it work on multiplayer servers?
Yes. Epic Paladins runs as both a client and server mod, so install it on the server side too. Clients that join without the mod will not render the custom models.
Is Epic Paladins still being maintained?
The last release is from November 2025. Check the project page for current status and any newer builds before you build a world around it.
