Image Mod | Pixel Art From Images
Image Mod converts any image file into Minecraft pixel art using existing in-game blocks. Build detailed art in seconds with simple commands.
Image Mod by Kevsterking reads any picture file, maps each pixel to the closest matching Minecraft block, and places the result in your world automatically. Point it at a folder, choose a width or height, and a finished piece of pixel art appears in under a second.
Point the Mod at Your Image Folder
Running /image setDirectory <path> tells the mod where to look for picture files, so you never have to type a full file path each time. Set the folder once, then reference images by name when you build.

Generate Pixel Art With /image create
The /image create command gives you three ways to size the output. Use /image create -width <n> to fix the block width and let the height scale proportionally. Use /image create -height <n> to fix the height instead. Pass both values with /image create <w> <h> to lock the exact footprint of the piece.
Walk Back Mistakes With Undo and Redo
/image undo tears down the last piece you placed, and /image redo brings it back. Experiment freely, because every action is reversible and nothing about your world is destroyed permanently.

Installing Image Mod
Install Fabric or NeoForge, drop the mod JAR into your mods folder, and launch the game with that loader profile. If you are new to mod loading, our general install guide walks through the folder and profile setup step by step. Image Mod lists no required dependencies, so it runs on its own once the loader is in place. Many Fabric mods also rely on Fabric API, but this one does not need it.
Roadmap
- Make setDirectory persistent
- Fix falling blocks on surface
- Multiplayer/Server/Plugin support
- Fix update on resource pack reload
- Improve block filter further
- Improve dynamic range with multi-block blending
Frequently Asked Questions
How fast does Image Mod place blocks?
The mod finishes most images in under a second on a typical setup, since it maps colors to blocks and places them in a single pass.
Does Image Mod work on multiplayer servers?
Singleplayer is the supported environment right now. Multiplayer and server support is listed as a planned feature on the project roadmap.
Are there any required dependencies?
No. The mod runs on its own once your loader is installed.
Can I undo a build I do not like?
Yes. Use /image undo to remove the last piece you placed and /image redo to bring it back.
