Beacon Overhaul | Expanded Beacon Effects Mod
Beacon Overhaul Mod reworks Minecraft beacons with a tier system and new effects like night vision, fire resistance, long reach, and slow falling.
Vanilla beacons are useful, but their effect list has stayed small for years. The Beacon Overhaul Mod rebuilds that system with a tiered pyramid model and a fresh set of beacon effects, so a maxed netherite base finally feels worth the investment.
How the Beacon Tier System Works
Beacon Overhaul introduces a tier structure that scales effect strength with the blocks you build with. Diamond and netherite beacon pyramids grant progressively stronger buffs than iron or gold, which gives late-game players a real reason to spend rare materials on a beacon base.
Each tier grants progressively stronger potency, so the same effect feels noticeably different on a diamond base versus a netherite one.

New Beacon Effects Added
Beyond the vanilla lineup, the mod adds several new effects you can pick from the beacon UI. Each one opens a different playstyle.
Night Vision
Illuminates the darkest depths with enhanced visibility, so caving and underwater building stop being a torch chore.

Fire Resistance
Grants immunity to fire damage, letting you brave lava pools and the Nether without burning through your food bar.

Nutrition
Passively restores your hunger bar, keeping you energized and freeing up inventory slots you would otherwise spend on food.

Long Reach
Extends your interaction range, so you can place and break blocks or interact with entities from a greater distance. Handy for large builds and fiddly placement work.

Slow Falling
Lets you descend gracefully from heights without fear of impact damage, which makes tall builds and cliff exploration far less punishing.

Refined Effect Mechanics
Several of the new effects come with extra mechanics that make them more than a flat buff.
Full-Bright Night Vision
A higher potency of night vision simulates midday lighting and removes fog effects, so the world reads as full-bright even in caves or the Nether.

Controlled Slow Falling
While under slow falling, sneaking drops you at normal fall speed while still negating fall damage. That gives you tactical versatility in combat and exploration, since you can descend fast when you need to without giving up the safety net.

Enhanced Jump Boost
Jump boost now increases your step height, letting you step up full blocks instantly. Disable auto-jump for the cleanest feel, since the mechanic relies on step-up rather than the vanilla hop.

How to Install Beacon Overhaul
This is a Fabric mod, so you need the Fabric loader and Fabric API before dropping the jar in place.
- Install Fabric Loader for your Minecraft version.
- Add Fabric API to your
modsfolder, since most Fabric mods depend on it. - Download the matching Beacon Overhaul JAR and place it in the same
modsfolder. - Launch the game with your Fabric profile and build a beacon pyramid to test the new UI.
For a broader walkthrough of profile setup and troubleshooting, see our general Minecraft mod install guide.
Beacon Overhaul FAQ
Does Beacon Overhaul change how beacons are built?
It keeps the vanilla pyramid shape but makes the base material matter. Diamond and netherite bases grant stronger effects than cheaper materials, so the tier system rewards players who invest in rare blocks.
Do I need Fabric API to run it?
Yes. Beacon Overhaul is a Fabric mod and relies on Fabric API. Install Fabric Loader and Fabric API first, then drop the mod jar into your mods folder.
Can I pick which effects a beacon gives?
The mod expands the beacon effect menu, so you can choose from the new effects alongside the vanilla ones. Night vision, fire resistance, nutrition, long reach, and slow falling are all selectable from the UI.
Does Enhanced Jump Boost require any settings changes?
It works best with auto-jump disabled. The effect raises your step height so you step up full blocks smoothly, and the vanilla auto-jump hop can fight against that mechanic.
