Meet Your Golem Squad

Max's Miny Golems ports the golem lineup from Minecraft Legends into vanilla survival, then adds a few original designs of its own. Every golem is assembled by placing blocks in a specific two-block pattern on the ground, the same way you would build an iron golem. There is no crafting table recipe and no summoning item, so the build itself is the recipe. Drop the right blocks in the right shape and a brand new protector springs up beside you.

The roster covers four distinct roles. Dart and Plank golems hang back and pick enemies off from range. The Mossy golem plays support with a healing aura. The Grindstone golem is your front-line tank. Mix and match them and you get a small army that handles crowds, ranged threats, and sustained fights without you doing all the work yourself.

Dart Golem

The Dart Golem is a small ranged unit that fires darts at nearby mobs. Each dart can apply Weakness or Poison, which makes it genuinely useful against tough melee enemies that would otherwise close the distance and swing on your other golems. It stays mobile in a fight, so it pairs well with a slow front-line golem that holds aggro.

Crafting the Dart Golem

Assemble it with a Leafy Slab placed on top of a Jungle Plank. Copy the pattern shown in the showcase images and the golem will spawn in.

Plank Golem

The Plank Golem is the archer of the group. It fires arrows at hostile mobs and, like the Dart Golem, comes in material tiers from Diamond all the way up to Netherite. Higher tiers hit harder and survive longer, so a Netherite Plank Golem is a genuine long-term companion rather than fodder.

Crafting the Plank Golem

Use a Carved Pumpkin Slab on top of an Oak Plank. The slab variant matters here, so check the showcase images for the exact placement before you commit your pumpkin.

Mossy Golem

The Mossy Golem is the support unit. It projects a healing zone that grants Regeneration II to anything standing inside it, which makes it the difference between a squad that wipes and a squad that walks away from a tough fight. The catch is that it is stubborn. It will not follow you around unless you hold a Bouquet in your hand, so keep one handy when you want to relocate it.

Crafting the Mossy Golem

Place Sheared Moss on top of a Tuff block. Sheared Moss is produced by using shears on a moss block, and Tuff is easy to mine deep underground.

Grindstone Golem

The Grindstone Golem is the tank. It comes in three variants, Diamond, Deepslate, and Brick, and it is built to soak hits and lead the charge while your ranged golems do damage from safety. Of the three, the Diamond variant takes the most punishment, while the Brick variant is the cheapest to field in numbers.

Crafting the Grindstone Golem

Each variant uses a matching Grindstone on top of its base material. For the Deepslate variant, place a Deepslate Grindstone on top of Polished Deepslate. For the Brick variant, use a Brick Grindstone on top of a Brick Block. The same two-block pattern rules apply.

How to Install Max's Miny Golems

This is a Forge mod with no required dependencies, so setup is straightforward.

1. Install Forge for the version of Minecraft you are playing.
2. Drop the downloaded JAR into your .minecraft/mods folder.
3. Launch the game with the Forge profile and assemble your first golem in a safe area.

How do I build a golem in Max's Miny Golems?

Will the golems follow me around?

Most of them will. The Mossy Golem is the exception and only follows when you hold a Bouquet, so keep flowers nearby if you want to move it between fights.

Yes. Dart and Plank golems target enemies from range, while the Grindstone Golem closes in to tank. The Mossy Golem stays back and heals anything inside its aura rather than attacking.

Is Max's Miny Golems still being maintained?
