Unusual End | Expanded End Mod
The Unusual End mod for Minecraft overhauls the End dimension with new biomes, hostile mobs, structures, and survival gear while staying true to vanilla.
Unusual End is a Minecraft mod that expands the End dimension with new biomes, hostile mobs, structures, and survival gear. It keeps the vanilla feel intact while making the outer islands feel alive and worth exploring instead of empty and repetitive.
What the Unusual End Mod Adds
The mod reworks existing End biomes and introduces several new ones, then fills them with threats, loot, and resources you cannot find anywhere else. Generation changes that touch vanilla terrain can be toggled off in the config file, so you control how much the base game shifts.
New End Biomes to Explore
Three distinct biomes reshape the dimension.

Reworked End Highlands
Highlands get patches of diverse plants plus Raw Purpur veins you can mine for tools and decor. Watch for Firefly Nests and Chorus Cane patches, both yielding Chorus Cane Planks as a renewable wood source. Tame the Ender Fireflies inside with an End Blob and they will guard you against Endermites and their larger relatives.
Gloopy Plains
Purple agglomerations distort the terrain here, and it is crawling with Endermite relatives. Enderblobs, Small Enderbulbs, and Enderbulbs all roam the surface, some inflicting Ender Infection that causes periodic damage or random teleportation. The Crystal Flower periodically weakens nearby players, but the biome is rich in Shiny Crystals for regeneration and the rarer Prismalite inside Gloopy Nests. Ruins and Gloopstone piles often hide small underground rooms full of Endermite eggs and Gloopy Urns.
Warped Reef
Warped Reef looks like the Nether Warped Forest evolved inside the End. Hunt Bluk for food, let a Bolok warp your items into variants, and fish up warped goods and meals. Wear a Glub for jump boost and slow falling, and hunt the rare Spunkler, a Shulker variant hiding in the reef. Citrine Islands sit at the bottom where citrine crystals grow.
New Mobs That Hunt You

The dimension now fights back. Undead Enderlings swoop above the Void as an aggressive counterpart to Endermen. When hurt they turn invisible and gain extra attack reach, which makes Void bridges genuinely dangerous. Light a Citrine Candle nearby and they despawn.
Endstone Trappers hide inside Infested End Stone and bite your feet. You cannot kill them with a weapon, but you can sneak past undetected, break the block they lurk in, or capture the entity with an End Stone block. Draglings appear inside structures and randomly inflict Disruption, a status that blocks you from interacting with or destroying blocks.
In Gloopy Plains the Endermite family grows hostile. Enderblobs ignore Endermen, and some brood into flying Enderbulbs that buff themselves every time you land a hit. Weak and Regular eggs hatch when you get too close, so sneak or go invisible to avoid triggering them.
Structures and Loot
The Void is no longer empty air. Ancient architecture now floats between islands.

- End Houses give random rewards and often a map to the nearest Ancient End Tower.
- Ancient End Towers are packed with loot and traps like Infused End Stone Tiles, guarded by shulker turrets, aimed at well-equipped players.
- Flying End Ships hover above the Void and hold Void Totems along with maps to End Cities.
- Wanderer Islands host Wandering Traders who sell mod-related items and Wandering Stew, which teleports you straight back to the Overworld.
- Warped Ships and Warped Stations hold Warped Chests that multiple players can open for random items, plus Warped Anchors and Warped Infusions.
Gear, Gadgets, and Utility Blocks

The loot pool stretches well past the structures. Void Totems replace elytra for fast traversal, while the Leeching Wand drains foes and heals you in return. Pearlescent Mirrors and the Pearlescent Infuser charge rune gems for short buffs, and Golem Orbs trigger shockwaves on hit. Crystal Catalysts adapt to beacons, conduits, and more when you need buffs on the fly. Warping Waystones redirect Ender Pearls for pinpoint travel and emit redstone signals, and Dragon Lamps glow with particle effects when powered.
How to Install Unusual End
This is a Forge and NeoForge mod, so pick the loader your setup already uses.
- Install Minecraft Forge or follow the NeoForge setup guide first.
- Drop the Unusual End jar into your
modsfolder. - Launch the game and confirm the mod loads in the mods menu.
- Open the
unusualend-commonconfig file in yourconfigfolder to tune generation tweaks and item cooldowns to taste.
If you are new to modding generally, the Minecraft mod installation walkthrough covers the basics.
Compatibility With Other End Mods
Unusual End is built to coexist with other End expansions. The authors have tested it repeatedly alongside The Outer End, Endless Biomes, End's Phantasm, and Enlightened with no known conflicts. The only edge case is that another End mod's biomes can occasionally stop Unusual End biomes from spawning, which the config can address.
Cross-compatibility is also baked in for several popular mods. Curios lets some items work from accessory slots, Create adds extra recipes, Farmer's Delight and Ender's Delight get food integrations, and JEI plus JEED surface recipes and effect descriptions. JEI is strongly recommended so you can actually read what everything does.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Unusual End still being maintained?
Yes. The latest release landed in May 2026, and recent versions are written as native code by the current developer rather than the earlier MCreator builds.
Which mod loaders does Unusual End support?
Unusual End targets the loaders listed in the install steps above, so it will not run on others. Check the project page for the current platform support.
Can I disable the vanilla biome changes?
Yes. Generation tweaks that alter vanilla End Highlands, including Raw Purpur patches and the added flora, can be switched off in the unusualend-common config file.
Is it a good companion for other End mods?
It pairs well with most End expansions, and the team specifically recommends pairing it with End's Phantasm or Endless Biomes for a denser dimension. For more variety in the dragon fight itself, see the Ender Dragon loot mod, or refresh everyday Endermen with the Enderman overhaul mod.
Do I need any dependencies?
No required dependencies are listed. JEI is recommended purely for the recipe and effect information it displays.
