What Wild Lands Brings to Minecraft

Wild Lands is a vanilla styled biome and wildlife mod for Minecraft that expands the world rather than tearing it apart. The goal is to make additions feel like they could have shipped with the base game, so you get new plants and animals dropped into familiar biomes alongside fully fleshed out new ones. New Biomes and Trees

The mod currently adds two handcrafted biomes, each with its own mood and hazards.

Burnt Forest is a woodland that has been ravaged by fire. Charred trunks and ashy ground give it a stark, post blaze look that stands apart from anything in the base game.

Bayou is a lush, swampy biome filled with cypress trees, frogs, alligators, and other wetland wildlife. Murky water and dense growth make it feel like a completely different corner of the world.

Two new tree types round out the scenery. The Bald Cypress gives the Bayou its dripping, mossy silhouette, and the Coconut Tree drops a tropical feel wherever it generates.

Wildlife and Mobs

Wild Lands adds a spread of animals, from ambient fish to bears you do not want to corner. Each one has a behavior pattern instead of just standing around.

Alligator lives in the Bayou. Young ones keep their distance, but the adults will turn on you if you provoke them.

Catfish are solitary and shy, giving you another reason to work the water for food.

Crabs skitter along beaches and are mostly passive. Watch for fighter variants with oversized claws that will take a swipe at you.

Hammerheads prowl the oceans, circling their prey before they strike. They will also go after drowned.

Anchovy travel in tight schools across the open ocean.

Octopus are shy cephalopods that blend into their surroundings when they get scared and bolt if you hit them.

Sea Lion are smart mammals that hunt fish on their own and can be hand fed anchovies.

Jellyfish drift passively, but they will sting you if you swim too close.

Grizzly bears forage for berries, salmon, and honey, then settle down to hibernate once they have eaten enough.

Blocks, Food, and Decorations

Beyond biomes and animals, Wild Lands layers in new items. You will find extra food options, building blocks, and vegetation that tie the new areas back into survival gameplay rather than leaving them as scenery.

How to Install Wild Lands

One dependency to know about. When you play on the older 1.19.2 branch, Wild Lands needs TerraBlender installed alongside it for world generation to load correctly. Match the dependency to your loader branch and you should be set.

Is Wild Lands still being maintained?

The last release is version 1.0.8, published roughly three years ago. The project has not seen a new version since, so treat it as a finished snapshot and check the project page for any current status before building a long term world around it.

Does Wild Lands need any other mods to run?

On most builds it is self contained. The one exception is TerraBlender, which is required for the older Forge branch to handle its custom world generation.

Can I add Wild Lands to a modpack?

Yes. The author permits inclusion in modpacks as long as you give proper credit and link back to the original project. You cannot recompile and reupload the mod or lift its assets into another project.
