Minerally is a Fabric mod for Minecraft that reworks ore generation with crystals, ore piles, geodes, and mineral rocks you break across several mining hits. The underground stops being single-tap veins and starts to feel like actual prospecting, with deposits that take real effort and pay out more ore for the work.

What Minerally Adds to Your World

The mod does not introduce new ore metals like tin or silver. It keeps the vanilla ore set and changes how those ores appear in the world. Four formations replace the plain single-block veins you are used to, and each one behaves a little differently when you mine it.

  • Crystals take several hits to fully break and can yield a few different ores from a single deposit.
  • Mineral rocks are the quick option, dropping one ore from a single break.
  • Ore piles sit between the two, clustered deposits that need more than one swing but are smaller than crystals.
  • Geodes generate in shallow caves, deep caves, and the Nether, with visible particles hinting at what is inside. You cannot tell the exact drop until you break one, and Nether geodes can even produce diamonds.

A visual cue on crystals tells you roughly how much ore is left. A full-looking crystal promises a solid payout, while an empty one might give nothing at all. Vanilla pickaxe tier rules still apply, so do not expect to scoop diamond with a wooden pickaxe.

How Crystals Work as Multi-Hit Deposits

Crystals are the headline feature. They spawn on cave floors and ceilings, in deepslate caves, and in the Nether, and you have to mine them several times to collect everything inside. The payoff is a larger haul than a normal vein would give, and a single crystal can drop more than one ore type. Because the remaining amount is visible on the block, you can read at a glance whether a crystal is worth the time before you commit.

Mineral Rocks for Quick Single-Break Ores

Mineral rocks are the easiest deposit in the pack. They spawn in caves and deepslate caves, and a single break drops one ore. If you just want fast resources without the multi-hit commitment of a crystal, these are the blocks to scan for. They are also the gentlest introduction to the mod for players who want the new look without a tougher mining loop.

Ore Piles and Where They Cluster

Ore piles sit between crystals and mineral rocks. They are smaller clusters than crystals but still demand more than one hit to clear, so they reward a bit of patience with a bigger drop than a vanilla vein. You will find them in caves, deepslate caves, and the Nether, often mixed in with the other formations so a single caving trip can hit all three types.

Where Each Formation Generates

All four formations replace or supplement standard ore generation across caves, deepslate caves, and the Nether. Geodes lean toward shallow and deep caves plus the Nether, while crystals favor cave floors and ceilings. Because the deposits cluster inside existing cave systems rather than spawning in solid stone, the mod rewards players who actually explore instead of branch-mining a single tunnel.

Installing Minerally

Minerally runs on Fabric only, so grab the Fabric loader and the Fabric API before anything else. Drop the matching jar into your mods folder and launch the game. Pick the jar that matches your Minecraft version. It works in singleplayer and on dedicated servers. If you have never installed a mod before, our general mod install guide walks through the full process step by step.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Minerally add new ore metals like tin or silver? No. It keeps the vanilla ore set and instead changes how those ores appear and how many hits they take to mine.

Do I need Fabric API? Yes. Fabric API is the only required dependency. Load the matching version for your Minecraft release.

Can I use it with Forge or NeoForge? Not currently. The mod is Fabric-only, so it will not load under Forge or NeoForge loaders.

Do vanilla pickaxe tier rules still apply? Yes. You still need an iron-tier pickaxe or better to mine diamond ore, and the same rule carries over to crystals and ore piles that contain diamond.

Is it safe to add to an existing world? It is generally fine for new chunks. Existing chunks that have already generated will not retroactively spawn the new deposits unless you regenerate them or explore fresh area.
