Tall Towers Built for Exploration

Towers of the Wild Modded adds a single, focused structure type to chase after while you explore. Each one is a slender tower inspired by The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, and the reward for climbing it is a chest at the top alongside a waystone you can use as a fast travel beacon. The mod is built around giving you a reason to keep moving across the map, with more landmarks to spot on the horizon and more to interact with once you reach them.

Every tower chest is guaranteed to hold a paraglider on top of its random loot, which gives you a handy glide tool the moment you reach the summit. If your modpack disables elytra or limits flight, the waystones and the paraglider together become the main way you hop between regions.

What the Towers Look Like

The towers are constructed from blocks that match the area around them, with a spiral staircase winding up to the top where the chest and waystone sit. Appearance shifts with the biome, so a tower rising out of a desert looks noticeably different from one perched on badlands or frozen terrain.

Each tower style is themed to its biome, which keeps repeated discoveries from feeling copy pasted.

Waystones as a Travel Network

When you pair the mod with a Waystones mod, each tower spawns a waystone at the top that you can activate. Once touched, that waystone joins your fast travel list, so the towers double as a permanent network of landing points scattered across your world.

Loot at the Summit

The chest reward is partly random and partly themed to the tower you climbed. You always walk away with a paraglider, and the rest of the contents shift depending on where the tower generated, so a desert summit and a frozen summit rarely hand you the same haul.

Where the Towers Can Generate

Beyond the Overworld, the mod seeds towers into several other dimensions and dimension adding mods. You can find them in the End and the Nether, in the Aether, and inside the worlds added by Ad Astra Planets and Blue Skies Dimensions. Twilight Forest support is included as well, though towers will not appear there due to how Twilight Forest handles its own world generation. Ratlantis (from the Rats mod) is also covered.

If you want even more tower coverage, the separate Extra Towers addon expands the list into additional modded dimensions beyond what ships by default.

Installing Towers of the Wild Modded

Setup follows the usual mod install path. Pick the loader your other mods already use, then drop the jar into your mods folder and launch the game.

  1. Install Fabric, Forge, or NeoForge as your loader.
  2. Drop the Towers of the Wild Modded jar into your mods folder.
  3. Add a Waystones mod if you want the fast travel network enabled on top of each tower.
  4. Launch and start a new world, or explore fresh chunks so the towers can generate.

For the broader walkthrough covering loaders and mod folders, see the how to install Minecraft mods guide. If you enjoy structure and world generation overhauls, the Immersive Structures mod and ChoiceTheorem's Overhauled Village mod pair well with this one.

Towers of the Wild Modded FAQ

Do I need a Waystones mod for the towers to work?

No. The towers generate on their own with a chest and paraglider at the top. The Waystones mod is optional, and installing it only adds a waystone to each tower that lets you fast travel between them.

Is the paraglider guaranteed in every tower chest?

Yes. Every tower chest contains a paraglider along with its random loot, so you always get a glide tool the moment you reach the summit.

Will towers spawn in an already generated world?

Towers only appear in chunks the game generates after the mod is installed. Your existing explored areas stay unchanged, so head into new terrain to start finding them.

Can I use Towers of the Wild Modded alongside other structure mods?

In most cases yes. It plays nicely with general world generation and structure overhauls. Just keep an eye on Twilight Forest, where the towers will not spawn because of how that mod locks down its own generation.

Is Towers of the Wild Modded still maintained?

The last release is from January 2026. Check the project page for current status and any newer builds.
