Tax' Structure Architect reworks the structures you stumble into every survival run. Instead of the same flat villages and cookie-cutter dungeons, you get rebuilt versions with more detail, better loot pacing, and a real reason to keep exploring after the early game. It is a Forge mod by Taknax, and it leans on world generation rather than new blocks, so the changes slot into a typical modded setup without much fuss.

What the mod actually changes

Two things get attention: villages and dungeons. Villages gain biome-specific upgrades, so a plains town no longer looks like a desert town with the sand removed. Dungeons get expanded layouts and stronger atmosphere, which makes the run to the End or a stronghold feel like a proper expedition instead of a checkbox.

The work is purely structural. No new mobs, no new crafting systems, no extra items to learn. That keeps the footprint small and lets you stack it alongside bigger overhaul mods without fighting for the same design space.

Revamped villages across every biome

Cherry Grove Village: One of the highlight features of Tax' Structure Architect Mod is the addition of Cherry Grove Village.

The mod does not stop at one village. It upgrades the classic villages across biomes, from scorching deserts to lush plains, from savannas to snowy landscapes, and deep into the Taiga.

Tax' Structure Architect also upgrades the existing dungeons in Minecraft. These structures now look more elaborate and feel more rewarding to clear.

How to install Tax' Structure Architect

The install is the standard Forge routine. Get your Forge profile set up first if you have not already, then drop the mod jar into your mods folder and launch the game with that profile.

  1. Install Forge (or NeoForge, which the project also targets) and start the game once with that profile so the folders generate.
  2. Download the matching jar for your loader and Minecraft version.
  3. Place the jar in the .minecraft/mods folder.
  4. Launch the Forge profile and load a world to see the new structures.

If you want a deeper walkthrough on the loader side, our Minecraft Forge guide and the general how to install Minecraft mods page cover the steps in more detail.

Playing well with other structure mods

Because this mod edits vanilla structure generation, it can overlap with other village and dungeon overhauls. If you already run something like Better Villages or Choicetheorem's Overhauled Village, test them together in a throwaway world first to see which structures win the conflict. Pairing it with exploration-focused mods such as Better Archeology tends to work cleanly, since they touch different parts of the world generation pipeline.

There are no required dependencies beyond the loader itself. Just keep an eye on structure-replacement mods that target the same buildings.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to add to an existing world?

Yes, with the usual caveat. New chunks will generate the upgraded structures, while already-explored areas keep whatever was generated when you first loaded them. For the full effect, start a fresh world.

Does it add new mobs or items?

No. Tax' Structure Architect only changes structure generation. No new entities, no new crafting, no extra inventory clutter, so it stays light on a server.

Will it conflict with other village mods?

It can, if the other mod replaces the same vanilla structures. The safest approach is to pick one village overhaul and run this one alongside mods that touch unrelated generation, like dungeon-only packs or biome additions.

Can I use it on a server?

Yes. It is server-friendly since the structures generate on the server side. Make sure every client connecting also has the mod, or they will see mismatched structures.

Is the project still being maintained?

The last release is from October 2024. Check the project page for current status before building a long-term modpack around it, since there has been no newer build since then.
