Creeper Overhaul Mod | Biome Variants
Creeper Overhaul replaces the vanilla creeper with biome-specific variants that change their look, drops, and behavior across every Minecraft biome.
The Creeper Overhaul Mod swaps out the plain vanilla creeper for a whole roster of biome-themed variants. Each one spawns in a matching biome, carries its own look, and drops loot that fits where it lives. Some are docile and even help you fight, while others are just as explosive as the original. Custom sounds and fresh art round out the package, giving the most iconic mob in the game a serious refresh.
What the mod changes in your world
Creeper Overhaul does not add a new mob slot. It reskins the vanilla creeper and layers biome-specific variants on top, so every region you explore feels a little different. A desert creeper wears a cactus hat, a beach creeper carries seashells, and a swamp creeper shows up with a skull on its head. The default creeper gets the same treatment, plus a cute cactus hat of its own. New sounds recorded by scratchy_sd and concept art by ArkticBoi give each variant a distinct personality.
Every biome creeper you will meet
Badlands Creeper: A creeper with a cactus hat. Can drop Gold Nuggets and Gunpowder.

Bamboo Creeper: A creeper that hides in bamboo. They can be scared by panda and drop Bamboo.

Beach Creeper: A creeper that carries seashells on its head. Can drop Seagrass, Prismarine Shard, Sand, and Gunpowder.

Cave Creeper: A creeper that is very good at hiding in caves. Can drop Raw iron, Raw gold, Emerald, Diamond, Stone or Gunpowder

Dark Oak Creeper: A spooky creeper that spawns in dark oak forests. Can drop Dark Oak logs, Cobwebs, and Gunpowder.

Desert Creeper: Another creeper with a cactus hat. Can drop Cactus and Gunpowder.

Dripstone Creeper: A small and angry creeper that spawns in dripstone caves. Can drop Pointed dripstone and Gunpowder.

Hills Creeper: A creeper that enjoys admiring the view from the hills. Drops Gunpowder.

The mod also changes the look of the default vanilla creeper and adds a cute cactus hat!

How to install Creeper Overhaul
- Install a supported loader first. Fabric and Forge are the common picks, with NeoForge as a third option. If you are new to this, the how to install Minecraft mods guide walks through the basics.
- Download the JAR that matches your loader and game version from the project page.
- Grab the required libraries too. Creeper Overhaul depends on Geckolib, Resourceful Lib, and Resourceful Config, so those JARs need to sit alongside it.
- Drop the mod JAR and the library JARs into your mods folder, then launch the game and load a world to see the new creepers spawn.

Does this replace the vanilla creeper? Yes. The mod reskins the vanilla creeper and adds the biome variants on top of it, plus a cactus hat on the default look.
What does each creeper drop? Drops match the biome. Cave creepers can drop raw iron, raw gold, emerald, or diamond, while Beach creepers drop seagrass, prismarine shards, and sand. Most variants also drop gunpowder.
