Lucky TNT | 200+ Explosive Blocks Mod
Lucky TNT adds over 200 TNT blocks and dynamite sticks to Minecraft, reviving the classic Too Much TNT with world-shaping God and Doomsday tiers.
If you have ever wanted more than the plain TNT block Minecraft ships with, the Lucky TNT Mod is the answer. It drops over 200 new explosives into your world, split across standard TNT, God-tier TNT, Doomsday TNT, and throwable dynamite. The whole project is a spiritual successor to the legendary TooMuchTNT, which stopped receiving updates after the 1.8 era, rebuilt for modern versions of Minecraft.
What the Lucky TNT Mod actually does
Every explosive falls into one of four power tiers, and that structure is what sets the mod apart from a generic "more TNT" pack. You get useful tools at the low end and reality-breaking cataclysms at the top.
- Normal TNTs handle everyday jobs. Mining TNT digs, Drilling TNT bores shafts, Ocean TNT floods, and TNT x5 through x500 scale up the blast radius when you need a bigger crater.
- God TNTs reshape whole regions. Midas TNT turns blocks to gold, Reset TNT rolls back terrain, and Custom TNT lets you define your own behavior through its tooltip.
- Doomsday TNTs are the headline acts. Deathray, Supernova, Black Hole TNT, and Hydrogen Bomb wipe out massive areas in a single detonation, so test them far from anything you want to keep.
- Dynamites are throwable versions of the same ideas. They work great in caves or PvP when you want ranged explosions instead of placed blocks.
A few entries are multiplayer only. Sensor TNT detonates when a player walks near it, Turret TNT lobs dynamite at nearby players, and Mimic TNT disguises itself as the block beneath it. These shine on a server with friends rather than solo.

How to install Lucky TNT
The mod runs on three loaders, so pick the one your existing modpack already uses. Mixing loaders in one instance never works.
- Install the matching loader profile first. If you are new to this, our Minecraft mods install guide walks through the full process from a clean launcher.
- Download the Lucky TNT JAR that matches your loader and drop it into the
modsfolder inside your game directory. - Launch the game with the loader profile selected. The new TNT blocks show up in the creative inventory, and you can also grab the full set through the
/givecommand or a creative search.
A few entries have a learning curve. Custom TNT reads its tooltip for configuration, and Smoke TNT changes color when you right-click it with a dye. If a Doomsday TNT lags your world on detonation, lower your simulation distance before lighting it, because some of these clear hundreds of thousands of blocks at once.
Playing nice with other mods and servers
Lucky TNT is purely additive and ships no required dependencies, so it sits comfortably alongside performance and content mods. It is a popular companion to the Explosive Enhancement mod and ExplosionT, both of which restyle blast particles and camera shake for a more cinematic detonation. On a multiplayer server, back up the world before you hand out Doomsday TNT, and consider whitelisting the most destructive variants to admins only.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as Too Much TNT?
No, but it is the closest thing to a modern Too Much TNT. The original TooMuchTNT stopped updating years ago, and the Lucky TNT team rebuilt its TNT roster for modern Minecraft. Almost every explosive from the classic mod returns here, plus dozens of original additions.
Which loader should I use?
Use whichever loader your other mods require. All three supported loaders run the same TNT lineup, so there is no feature difference between them. Just avoid mixing loaders inside one instance.
Does Lucky TNT work on multiplayer servers?
Yes, and several explosives are built for it. Sensor TNT, Turret TNT, and Mimic TNT only function with more than one player around, which makes them great for PvP arenas and prank servers. Keep regular backups, because a single Doomsday TNT can flatten a spawn area in seconds.
Can I configure the more powerful TNTs?
Custom TNT is the configurable one. Its tooltip explains the fields you can edit to define its blast behavior, and several God and Doomsday TNTs accept dyes or redstone input for extra control. For finer balance tuning, run the mod through a server config and restrict the variants you do not want players spawning.
Is Lucky TNT still being maintained?
The last release shipped in July 2024, so the project has been quiet for a while. Check the project page for the current status before building a long-term world around it.
