VillagersPlus | New Trades & Workstations Mod
VillagersPlus adds four new villager professions, fresh trades and detailed custom workstations that make trading in Minecraft feel alive again.
Villagers are the backbone of any long-term Minecraft world, but after a few hundred emerald trades the vanilla lineup starts to feel thin. VillagersPlus fixes that by introducing brand new villager professions, a full set of trades for each one, and hand-crafted workstations that look at home in any village. The result is a trading economy with real variety, whether you are hunting rare flowers, brewing supplies, or coral for a build.
The project was originally built by fradige951 and is now maintained on the finallion source repo. It supports both major loader families and has racked up over seven million downloads, which makes it one of the more popular villager overhauls available.
Four New Villager Professions and Trades
Each new villager follows the standard leveling system, unlocking better stock as you trade with them. Every profession has five tiers of deals, so there is always a reason to keep a villager around and grind their level up.
Horticulturist
Your go-to villager for anything that grows. Early tiers sell common flowers, seeds, and saplings, while higher levels open up rarer blooms like Wither Roses, Spore Blossoms, and Flowering Azalea Leaves. If you build gardens or terraform, this villager saves hours of foraging.
Occultist
The Occultist trades in amethyst, soul-themed items, candles, and glow-based materials. Top-tier deals include Bottles o' Enchanting and Nether Quartz, making them useful for both decoration and enchanting setup work.
Oceanographer
Built around ocean content, the Oceanographer sells coral in every form (blocks, fans, and plants), sea pickles, sponges, and even Nautilus Shells. They will also buy back scutes and fish buckets, which turns ocean exploration into steady emerald income.
Alchemist
The Alchemist deals in brewing ingredients and potions. Lower levels cover basics like Nether Wart and sugar, while the upper tiers offer Blaze Powder, Ghast Tears, Dragon Breath, and pre-brewed potions. This is the villager to lean on if you run a potion lab.
Custom Workstations That Actually Do Something
The mod pairs each profession with a unique workstation block, and these are not just decorative job-site blocks. Each one has a small mechanic of its own.
Flower Tub
A planter that holds up to four plants at once, perfect for the Horticulturist's line of work. Drop in flowers, saplings, or crops and they grow over time, giving you a compact decorative garden.

Aquarium
The Oceanographer's workstation holds up to four sea plants and one entity in a bucket. Fill it with kelp, seagrass, coral, or a captured fish and it becomes a living display piece.

Enchanted Basin
A storage vessel for experience points. Sneak and right-click to deposit XP, then right-click again to pull it back out. It is a clean way to bank levels before a risky trip.

Alchemist Table
The most involved workstation. Load it with gunpowder, three empty bottles, and one potion, and there is a chance it converts the bottles into random potions. Roll poorly and the table explodes, destroying its contents, so it is a genuine gamble for potion farmers.

How to Install VillagersPlus
The setup is straightforward since the mod has almost no dependencies.
- Install a compatible mod loader first. If you are on Fabric, also add Fabric API. Forge users need nothing extra beyond the loader itself, and our Forge installation guide walks through that side. A general how to install Minecraft mods primer covers the mods-folder step for either loader.
- Drop the downloaded JAR into your
modsfolder. - Launch the game. The new villagers spawn naturally in villages, so generate a fresh world or explore unopened chunks to find them.
Because villagers are baked into world generation when those chunks first load, existing villages will not populate the new professions until you travel into new territory.
Customizing Trades With Datapacks
One of the strongest features is full datapack support. You can add, delete, or rewrite trades for every profession in the game, not just the four new ones. The currency is not locked to emeralds either, so you can swap in any item as the trading token. The mod also merges cleanly when multiple datapacks touch the same villager, and ships ready-made compatibility datapacks for popular content mods.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any other mods for VillagersPlus to work?
Forge setups have no required dependencies. On Fabric, the only requirement is Fabric API. Outside of that, the mod is self-contained.
Will the new villagers appear in my existing world?
They only spawn in chunks that generate after the mod is installed. Load up an old save and head into unexplored areas, or start a new world, to meet them.
Can I change the trades or use a different currency?
Yes. Datapack support lets you add, remove, and edit trades for any villager profession, and you can replace emeralds with whatever item you prefer as the trading currency.
Can it run alongside other villager mods?
It generally plays well with other villager or village overhauls. If you want a broader village redesign, pairing it with Better Villages or the ChoiceTheorems Overhauled Village mod gives you a fuller village experience, though you should test combinations in a throwaway world first.
Is VillagersPlus still being updated?
The last release dates to late 2023 and has not seen new updates since. Check the project page for the current status before building a long-term world around it.
