Mutant More is a Minecraft mob mod that transforms familiar creatures into brutal mutant bosses. Each mutant rewrites how you fight that mob, with new attack patterns, tougher defenses, and valuable drops you can turn into shields, turrets, and weapons. The mod draws heavy inspiration from the classic Mutant Creatures and Mutant Beasts mods, and pairs well with their successor Mutant Monsters if you want even more mutated threats.

How Mutant Mobs Are Created

You do not summon mutants. You brew them. The mod adds two throwable chemicals, Formula Y and Compound Z, that work like splash potions. Aim one at a vanilla mob and a Mutation Cloud wraps around the target. From there the outcome is partly random.

The cloud telegraphs what is happening through its particles. Grey particles mean the mutation requirements were not met, dark purple particles mean the mob is eligible but the roll failed, and other colors mean the mutation is taking hold. If luck is not on your side, brew a mutation potion with a higher mutation chance and try again. A failed mutation damages the mob instead of transforming it, so weak targets may simply die in the attempt.

Every mutant is a genuine fight, not a reskin. Plan your approach, bring good gear, and learn each one's tells before you commit.

Mutant Wither Skeleton

An agile melee specialist that dual-wields Blazing Scimitars. It punishes hesitation and can close distance faster than you expect, so keep your eyes on it at all times. Kiting and shield timing matter more than raw damage here.

Mutant Blaze

A tanky ranged fighter with layered defenses you have to peel through before it goes down. Play patiently, bait its attacks, and punish the recovery windows.

Defeating it drops a Mutant Blaze Core, the crafting ingredient behind the Mutant Blaze Shield and the Heatstorm Generator. The shield is one of the strongest defensive items in the mod, so this fight is worth repeating.

Mutant Shulker

A walking fortress with high health and self-regeneration. If you let it recover between hits, the fight drags out and gets dangerous. Burst it down in focused windows and interrupt its healing whenever you can.

It drops its shell on death, which you can craft into a Mutant Shulker Shield and a Mutant Shulker Turret. The turret turns the defense of this fight into an offensive tool for your base.

Other Mutants

The roster goes beyond the three headliners. A Mutant Husk churns the ground into quicksand that can trap you mid-fight, the Mutant Hoglin enrages if you hit it too rapidly, and biome-specific variants like the Mutant Frozen Zombie and Mutant Jungle Zombie appear when you mutate a Zombie in cold or jungle biomes. Dungeons Mobs, if installed, lets you mutate those variants directly. Clearing mutants also unlocks a full set of advancements the mod tracks, giving completionists a long-term goal.

Installing Mutant More

This is a standard mod-loaded add-on, not a datapack or behavior pack.

1. Install a compatible mod loader first. Pick Minecraft Forge, Minecraft Fabric, Quilt, or the NeoForge project depending on the build you download.
2. Download the Mutant More jar that matches your loader and drop it into your mods folder.
