Sky's Placeables | Placeable Items Mod
The Placeables mod for Minecraft turns vanilla items into placeable 3D decorations you can stack, rotate, and eat. Bring custom detail to any build.
Placeables (also released as Sky's Placeables) is a decoration mod that takes the everyday items sitting in your inventory and lets you set them down in the world as custom 3D models. Instead of hiding diamonds and music discs inside a chest, you can display them on a shelf, pile ingots into neat stacks, or stage a full set of armor without an armor stand. If you enjoy dressing up bases, shops, and survival homes, this decoration mod gives you a fresh way to fill empty space with real, interactive objects.

How Placing Items Works
The controls are quick to pick up. Hold shift and right-click with an item in hand to place it in the world as a 3D model.

When the item is stackable, right-click on an already placed copy with the same item in hand to add another piece to the pile. This is how you build up towers of ingots or rows of books.

Shift right-click a placed item to rotate it toward you, so you can angle tools, weapons, and decorations exactly how you want them to face.

Right-clicking a non-stackable item, or any item when you do not have a matching one in hand, picks it back up. Nothing gets destroyed by accident.

Interactive Items You Can Eat and Stack
A big part of the appeal is that many placed items keep working after you set them down. Placeable bread can still be eaten, and items like eggs and books stack up to three high.

One detail players love is the placeable clock. Once it is set down, the hands follow the real day and night cycle of your world, so it works as a working timepiece on a wall.

Other interactive items include stackable ingots, gems like diamonds and emeralds, edible foods such as golden apples, farm crops like carrots and potatoes, bowls, and bucket variants including milk and lava buckets.

Decorative Items for Displays and Shops
Alongside the interactive objects, the mod adds a wide range of purely decorative items that are perfect for showrooms, market stalls, and trophy rooms. You can lay out full sets of iron, diamond, and gold armor with no armor stand underneath them. Tools and weapons like pickaxes, swords, shovels, and bows can lean against walls or rest on counters. Smaller props such as sticks, gold nuggets, bottles, blaze rods, and every music disc round out the catalog for detailed staging.

The Placeable Basket Block
The basket is the one new block the mod introduces. It works a lot like an item frame, holding produce in a tidy, decorative way. Baskets are handy for displaying farm crops such as carrots, potatoes, beetroots, wheat, and apples, and they pair nicely with survival kitchens and farmer market builds.

Installing Placeables
Getting the mod running follows the standard modded Minecraft workflow. Set up your loader profile first. If you need a refresher, our guide to installing Minecraft mods walks through the launcher side, and our overview of Minecraft Forge covers the Forge profile in detail.
- Install your preferred loader and launch that profile once so the
modsfolder is created. - Download the matching Placeables JAR for your loader.
- From version 1.9.1 onward the mod also needs Cloth Config, so grab that dependency too and place both files in the
modsfolder. - Launch the game with your modded profile and the new placeable items will be available in your inventory.
For more building flavor, the mod plays nicely with other decoration addons. If you want even more props to arrange alongside your placed items, browse our decoration mod picks and our village improvement guide.
Placeables Mod FAQ
What does the Placeables mod do?
It converts ordinary vanilla items into custom 3D placeable objects. You can display, stack, rotate, and in some cases eat the items you set down, which opens up far more detailed decorating than vanilla allows.
How do I place and rotate items?
Hold shift and right-click with the item in hand to place it. Shift right-click a placed item to rotate it toward you. Right-click a non-stackable item, or any item without a matching one in hand, to pick it back up.
Does Placeables need any other mods?
From version 1.9.1 onward it requires Cloth Config to run. That is the only hard dependency. The mod also adds optional compatibility with Items Displayed and Supplementaries.
Can I eat food that I have placed?
Yes. Right-click placed food to eat it, and shift right-click placed food to drop it on the ground instead.
Is Placeables still being updated?
The last release on the project page is from June 2024. Check the project page for the current status and any newer builds before you build a world around it.
