Tarot Cards | 22 Major Arcana Ability Mod
Tarot Cards Mod adds 22 Major Arcana tarot cards to Minecraft, each granting a unique passive ability. Find them in loot chests across your world.
What the Tarot Cards Mod Adds
The Tarot Cards Mod drops the full Major Arcana into your survival world as collectible items rather than craftables. Every one of the 22 tarot cards carries a passive ability that stays active while the card sits in your inventory, and you can toggle any effect off by using the card if you want to keep a rare drop without its downside. Cards of the same type do not stack, so hunting for the full set is the real goal. You will not brew or enchant these cards. You loot them, and the luck of the chest decides which arcana you pull.
The 22 Major Arcana Cards and Their Effects
Each card maps a classic tarot figure to a concrete gameplay bonus. The Mod includes 22 cards, each with a unique passive ability:

The Fool: Jump Boost 3, so traversal and parkour get noticeably easier.

The Hierophant: +150% experience gain, which pairs well with mob farms and trading.

The Chariot: +20% speed boost for faster overworld travel.

The Moon: Constant Night Vision, removing the need for potions or torches underground.

The Sun: +25% base health, giving you extra hearts without absorbing totems.

The Emperor: Constant Hero Of The Village 3, keeping villager trade prices low.

Strength: Constant Strength 2 for a reliable melee damage bump.

The remaining arcana round out the kit with offensive and utility tools. Death adds +20% damage to non-undead mobs, Judgement gives a 15% chance to deal double damage, and Justice reflects 25% of damage taken back to the attacker. The Devil makes your attacks inflict weakness, while The Hermit grants +10 armor when you are away from allies. The Lovers apply Regeneration 3 to nearby allies, and The World slows nearby mobs with Slowness 3. Utility picks include Temperance for 25% slower hunger, The Hanged Man for converting 50% of damage taken into experience, The High Priestess for upgrading held enchantment books with experience, and The Magician for keeping golden items from breaking. The Star grants +50% base reach distance, The Tower makes you immune to fall damage, The Empress breeds nearby animals and grows babies faster, and The Wheel Of Fortune adds +3 Luck.
Where to Find Tarot Cards
By default, the cards have a 20% chance to spawn once in the following structures:
- Desert Pyramids
- Dungeons
- End Cities
- Nether Fortresses
- Mineshafts
- Shipwrecks
- Stronghold Libraries
- Temples in Villages

That spawn rate is low enough to make each pull feel earned, so structure hunting becomes the core loop. End Cities and Stronghold Libraries tend to be the most rewarding targets late game because they stack with other valuable loot.
The Tarot Deck Item
The Tarot Deck is an item that can be used to store cards. It can be equipped as a curio slot and will apply the effects of all the cards inside it, even while they are stored. The Tarot Deck is also fire-immune, so a lava death will not burn away a completed collection. Drop every card you find into the deck and the passives keep working without filling your main inventory.

How to Install the Tarot Cards Mod
This is a Forge and NeoForge mod, so pick the loader that matches your Minecraft version. There is no Fabric build for the original release. The steps are the same as any Forge mod:
- Install Minecraft Forge or the NeoForge project for your game version.
- Drop the matching jar into your
modsfolder. - Launch the game with the Forge or NeoForge profile.
If you are new to modded Minecraft, the general how to install Minecraft mods guide walks through the folder structure and launcher setup in more detail.
Compatibility and Known Issues
The mod requires both the client and server, so add it to both sides on a multiplayer setup. One known quirk is that the Tarot Deck can appear empty when you switch to creative mode on a server, which the author attributes to a Forge behavior. Avoid moving the deck across game modes until that is resolved.
Tarot Cards Mod FAQ
Do the card effects stack? No. Cards of the same type do not stack, so two copies of The Sun will not give +50% health twice.
Can I turn a card effect off? Yes. Use the card in your hand to toggle its passive ability on or off without dropping it.
Is there a Fabric version? The original release is Forge and NeoForge only. A separate, community-maintained remastered version adds Fabric support if you need it.
Where do cards spawn? They have a 20% chance to appear once in desert pyramids, dungeons, end cities, nether fortresses, mineshafts, shipwrecks, stronghold libraries, and village temples.
Does the Tarot Deck work with curios? Yes. The deck slots into a curio equipment slot and applies every stored card's effect at once, and it is fire-immune so it survives lava and fire.
