The Conjurer | Magician Illager Boss Mod
The Conjurer is a magician Illager boss mod for Minecraft that hides inside a forest theater, attacks with cards and bouncing balls, and drops a dyeable hat.
The Conjurer is a magician-inspired Illager miniboss that turns the dark forest into a stage. Deep in the roofed forest biome you can stumble on a fully built theater, and inside waits a showman with a deck of cards, a stash of trick balls, and a killer rabbit he is all too happy to summon. This Minecraft boss mod expands the Illager family with a fight that feels theatrical, chaotic, and genuinely tricky to survive.

Finding the Theater in the Roofed Forest
The theater generates naturally in roofed forest biomes, and it is large enough that you will usually spot the dark oak and cobblestone walls before you see a door. Walk in and you find a lobby that changes layout each time it spawns, with concession booths, seating, and the occasional armor stand holding something worth looting. You may even catch an Illusioner sitting in the crowd alongside the usual Illager audience.
Push through the pillagers guarding the entrance, lift the trapdoors near the stage, and the show begins.

How the Conjurer Boss Fight Works
The Conjurer opens every battle with a chant, then cycles through a set of magic-themed attacks that keep you moving. He never just stands and trades hits.

Expect bouncing balls that knock you off your feet, a rapid-fire barrage of playing cards that shoves you backward, and a sleight-of-hand trick where he pulls a killer bunny into the arena. Get bitten by that rabbit and you pick up a bleeding effect that chips away your health. When you think you have him cornered, he drops a smoke screen and reappears a few blocks away.

Bring food, solid armor, and room to maneuver. The theater's open stage plays into his teleporting style, so controlling your distance matters more than raw damage.

The Theater Structure
The theater is the centerpiece of the mod, and every room has randomized variants so two visits never feel identical. Pillagers, Vindicators, and Witches fill the seats as an audience, and an Illusioner can show up to watch on lucky runs. That crowd doubles as a wave of enemies between you and the boss, which is why clearing the lobby first is the smart play.

Loot, the Conjurer Hat, and Rewards
Beat the boss and the stage is yours. He drops his signature Conjurer Hat, a fashion piece that also keeps Bad Omen away, and you can dye the band just like leather armor to match your loadout. Expect two to four emeralds per kill, plus the colored balls and cards he fought with, which become usable weapons in your hands.

The dropped balls and cards let you borrow a little of his act for your own adventures.

Installing The Conjurer
This mod needs the Structure Gel API library to run, so grab that alongside the boss mod itself. Drop both JAR files into your mods folder after setting up your loader, then launch the game and head for a roofed forest. If you are new to mod setups, our Minecraft mod installation walkthrough covers the folder and loader basics step by step. Players running NeoForge can follow the NeoForge setup guide to get the loader in place first.
For an Illager-themed roster, The Conjurer pairs well with Goblin Traders, which adds friendly trader mobs you can seek out between boss fights.
The Conjurer FAQ
Does The Conjurer appear in raids?
No. The fight was built around the theater structure on purpose, so the boss only spawns inside it. Letting him roam free in village raids would undo half of what makes the encounter special.
Can I use this in a modpack?
Yes. You can include it in modpacks as long as you credit the original authors and link back to the project page.
What drops does the boss leave behind?
He drops the Conjurer Hat (which blocks Bad Omen and has a dyeable band), two to four emeralds, and the colored balls and cards you can use as weapons yourself.
Is The Conjurer still being updated?
The most recent release shipped in early 2025. It is worth checking the project page for current status before building a long-term world around it.
