SecurityCraft turns your base into a fortress that griefers and wandering mobs cannot touch. The mod has spent years as one of the most downloaded security addons for the game, with more than 96 million installs to date, and the project is still actively developed by Geforce132 and bl4ckscor3. At its core it hands you keypads, laser tripwires, mines, surveillance cameras, and reinforced blocks, all governed by an ownership system that decides who can open, break, or reconfigure each device you place.

How the Ownership System Works

Every block in SecurityCraft belongs to the single player who placed it. Only that owner can interact with it, and only they can break it. Most blocks then apply their effect to everyone except the owner, so a laser field protects your door without ever hurting you.

You can fine-tune this behavior block by block. Right-click a device with a Universal Block Modifier and a screen opens where you toggle settings, swap modules, and override defaults. If you run a server with scoreboard teams, optional config support lets every player on the same team share ownership of each block a teammate placed. Install Jade or The One Probe alongside it and you can even see who owns a block at a glance.

Keypad Doors and Scanner Locks

Keypad doors only swing open for players who enter the right code, which makes them a clean way to gate storage rooms and private wings without redstone gymnastics.

Scanner doors take security a step further. They behave like a reinforced iron door fused with a retinal scanner, where the owner simply looks up at the block to unlock it.

Laser Blocks, Mines, and Sentries

Laser blocks pair up within a few blocks of each other to throw a beam between them. Drop in different modules and that beam can damage trespassers, emit a redstone signal, or both the instant a player or mob crosses it.

Mines do exactly what the name promises and detonate the moment an entity steps on them. The sentry goes further, tracking nearby threats and unloading a hail of projectiles to protect the area from players and mobs alike.

Security Cameras and Monitoring

The security camera is the centerpiece for players who like to watch their perimeter. Place cameras around your base, then view every feed through a Camera Monitor so you can spot intruders before they reach your walls.

Installing SecurityCraft

Getting it running follows the same flow as any other Minecraft mod. Install a compatible mod loader first, then drop the mod JAR into your mods folder and launch the game.

  1. Install the loader your Minecraft version needs.
  2. Download the matching SecurityCraft JAR for that loader.
  3. Place the file inside the mods folder of your game directory.
  4. Launch the game and start placing security blocks.

If you have never installed a mod before, our Minecraft mod install guide walks through the full process, and our primers on Fabric and Forge cover the loader side.

SecurityCraft FAQ

Do reinforced blocks actually stop griefers? Yes. Reinforced variants of common blocks have high blast resistance and bind to their owner, so other players cannot break them even with the right tools. They form the backbone of a grief-proof vault.

Can teammates use my locked doors and devices? They can, once you enable scoreboard team ownership in the config. Every player on your team then shares ownership of blocks placed by any teammate.

Does it work with information overlays like Jade? It does. With Jade or The One Probe installed you can see which player owns a block directly in the overlay, which helps on multiplayer servers.

How do I reconfigure a block I already placed? Right-click it with a Universal Block Modifier. That opens the configuration screen where you change owner rules, swap modules, and toggle behavior per block.

Is the mod still being updated? The last release shipped in April 2026 and development is ongoing, so check the project page for the current status and newest build.

Wrap-Up

SecurityCraft gives you every tool needed to lock down a base, from simple keypads to a full camera network, all built around an ownership system that keeps your defenses working for you and against everyone else. Pair it with a few iron ender chests for secured storage, add laser bridges and doors for stylish access control, and your base becomes a genuinely hard target.
