The Sit & Chill mod adds a small in-game menu that lets your Minecraft character sit down and relax in a range of poses. Press M and a wheel of options opens, so you can pick a posture on the spot without crafting anything or equipping an item. It is built for players who want more character expression in roleplay worlds, cinematic shots, or simply a quiet moment by a campfire.

What the Sit & Chill Mod Does

The mod leans on the playerAnimator library to drive its animations, so that dependency needs to be installed alongside the main jar. Once both files are in your mods folder, the menu is the only thing you interact with in-game. There is no crafting recipe, no item to hold, and no block to place. You just stand where you want your character to rest, open the menu, and choose a pose.

The menu gives you six sitting postures to choose from, and each one plays a short animation that locks your character into that position until you stand back up. It is a small feature set, but it fills a gap that vanilla Minecraft leaves wide open.

Sitting Poses and the M Menu

Open the menu with M and pick from six poses. Each one suits a different mood or scene, so you can match the posture to what you are building or filming.

The simplicity of pressing M and dropping into a relaxing pose is what makes the mod so easy to use. No items, no crafting, no setup. Just place your character wherever you want them to sit back and chill out.

Recovering Health Near a Campfire

Sitting close to a lit campfire slowly regenerates your health, which turns the mod from a purely cosmetic toy into something genuinely useful in survival worlds. After a long mining trip or a messy fight, light a campfire, sit down beside it, and let your hearts refill while you take a breather. Pair it with the Campfire Resting Mod for a more complete resting setup.

How to Install Sit & Chill

Because this is a Forge-only project, you need a Forge instance before anything else. Install Minecraft Forge, drop the Sit & Chill jar and the playerAnimator jar into your mods folder, then launch the game. From there, press M in-world and the pose menu appears.

If you have never set up a modded profile, the how to install Minecraft mods walkthrough covers the folder structure and launcher step in detail.

Is Sit & Chill Still Maintained?

The last release on the project page is from February 2024, and the author has noted the mod is no longer being actively developed. It still runs on the versions it was built for, but you should not expect new updates. Check the project page for the current status before you build a save or server around it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Sit & Chill need any items or crafting?

No. You press M, pick a pose, and your character sits. There is nothing to craft, equip, or place first.

What dependency does it require?

It needs the playerAnimator library. Install that alongside the main jar, or the menu will not load in-game.

Can I use it on a multiplayer server?

Yes, as long as both the server and any connecting clients have the mod and playerAnimator installed. The pose animations run client-side, so every player needs the files locally.

Is sitting purely cosmetic?

Not entirely. Sitting next to a lit campfire regenerates your health over time, which gives the mod a small but real survival use beyond roleplay and screenshots.
