Ascended Quark | Quark Features for the Aether
Ascended Quark brings Quark's small comforts into the Aether, with Skyroot block variants, Ambrosium Lamps, and Holystone Furnaces for your sky realm.
You build a small base on a floating island in the Aether. Skyroot planks and holystone underfoot, clouds hanging off every edge. Then you place a furnace, and that lump of plain overworld stone ruins the scene. Ascended Quark exists for exactly that problem. It is a compatibility addon connecting Quark by Vazkii with The Aether by the Aether Team, and with roughly a million downloads, plenty of players already run this pair.

Skyroot Block Variants for Aether Builds
Skyroot is the wood that grows in the Aether dimension. Once you commit to it for walls, floors, and roofs, every overworld-styled block you set down next to it sticks out. The headline feature of Ascended Quark addresses that, adding Skyroot variants of blocks so more of what you build and interact with every day continues the look instead of fighting it. The listing teases more in the same vein too, which gives builders room to theme an entire island home without one odd block breaking the illusion. If you have not touched the sky realm yet, our Aether mod overview covers the dimension and how it plays.

Ambrosium Lamps and Holystone Furnaces
Every base needs light and a way to smelt ore. Those are also the two utility blocks most likely to wreck a themed build. Ascended Quark adds Ambrosium Lamps and Holystone Furnaces to fill that gap in the Aether's own style. The lamps give you lighting that belongs in the sky realm rather than a generic torch or glowstone block. The furnace lets you smelt away inside a block that shares the holystone look of the terrain around it. Small changes on paper, but they are the difference between a build that feels native to the Aether and one that feels transplanted there.
Active Development and What Comes Next
This is not a patch frozen in time. The developers state that the mod will keep receiving updates with other features, and, more interesting, some original additions designed to keep the feel of what Quark already does in vanilla. Compatibility addons sometimes land as a pile of slapped-together recipes that sit awkwardly between the two base mods. This team is aiming for pieces you could believe shipped with either one. The project is actively maintained, with the latest update released in July 2026, so the block list keeps growing. Community support runs through a Discord linked from the official project page, which helps when a pack update shakes something loose and you need a quick answer.
How to Install Ascended Quark
Ascended Quark runs on Forge and NeoForge, and it is required on both the client and the server, so install it everywhere you plan to play.
- Set up your client with Forge or NeoForge. Pick one loader and stick with it for the whole modpack.
- Download The Aether and place its .jar in your mods folder. It is a required dependency.
- Download Quark the same way and drop it in the same folder. It is the other required dependency.
- Download Ascended Quark from the official project page and put that .jar in the mods folder as well.
- If you play multiplayer, copy the full set of mods to your server. The addon is required server side too.
- Launch the game and confirm Ascended Quark shows up in the mod list before you create a world.
Ascended Quark FAQ
Is Ascended Quark required on the server? Yes. The project lists it as required on the client and required on the server. In a multiplayer world, every player and the server itself need the file installed, just like The Aether and Quark.
What do I need installed for Ascended Quark to work? The Aether and Quark, with no exceptions. This addon is a bridge between the two, so with either one missing it has nothing to connect and cannot do its job.
Does Ascended Quark work with Every Compat or Woodworks? No, not cleanly. The developers flag a known incompatibility with both Every Compat and Woodworks, where recipes from this mod break. If your pack leans hard on either of those, hold off until an update addresses it.
Is Ascended Quark still maintained? Yes. The team stays active, with the latest update released in July 2026. Around one million players have downloaded it so far, and the stated plan is to keep adding features and original additions over time.
Our general mod install guide walks through the whole process, the Forge guide and NeoForge guide match the loaders Ascended Quark supports, and our Aether Legends coverage covers the sky realm on Bedrock if that is your platform.
