Elegant Armour | Hide Armor Mod

Elegant Armour is a lightweight cosmetic mod for Minecraft Java Edition that lets you hide your armor and show off your skin instead. You keep all of your protection, you just stop seeing the bulky plates on your character. It also hands you granular controls for individual pieces, a slimmer armor model, and per-player defaults that are handy on multiplayer servers.

What Elegant Armour Actually Does

The whole point of the mod is visual control over armor. Your stats stay exactly the same, but the rendering changes to match what you want to look at.

• Hide any armor piece. Toggle the helmet, chestplate, leggings, or boots off individually, or hide the full set at once. This is the core feature for players who spent time on a skin and do not want it buried under diamond.
• Slimmer armor model. Switch to a thinner fit that hugs the body more closely. It reads as more streamlined and pairs well with detailed skins.
• Default settings for everyone. Set a global default that applies to all players on a server. Useful for communities that want a consistent look.

• Per-player overrides. Pick different display rules for specific players. Your default can hide everyone's armor, then you reveal a friend's set when you want to see it.

• See other players' choices. Install the mod on a server and you can read what armor display settings other players are using.

Opening the Armor Display Menu

You do not get a new keybind to memorize. The mod lives inside the vanilla Social Interactions screen, which is bound to P by default.

Inside that screen, a new icon appears next to each player who is currently online. Click it to open the menu for that player. From there you can force a single armor piece to be hidden or shown, or leave it to follow the default. Elytras are handled separately from chestplates, so you can keep a wing visible while the chest stays bare.

Choosing the default option next to your own name opens the global editor. Anything you set there applies to every player, and it overrides their personal choice until you set a specific rule for that one person.

Installing Elegant Armour

The mod runs client-side, which means you only need it on your own game to change how armor looks to you. Server operators who want everyone to sync settings should add it to the server too.

2. Drop the Elegant Armour JAR into your mods folder.
3. Launch the game and open the Social Interactions screen to confirm the new armor icon appears next to players.

Compatibility Notes

This is a pure cosmetic mod with no required dependencies, so it slots into most modpacks without conflicts. It only changes how armor renders on your client. Other players on a vanilla server will still see your armor normally unless the mod is also running on the server. It pairs well with other appearance-focused picks like the Glowing Tools mod or decoration additions such as Carpeted Stairs and Slabs when you want a coordinated look.

Does hiding my armor lower my protection?

No. The mod only changes what renders on screen. Your armor points, enchantments, and durability all keep working exactly as before.

Can I hide just one piece, like the helmet?

Yes. Every slot is independent. Hide the helmet and leave the rest visible, or mix and match however you like. Elytras are tracked separately from chestplates.

Do other players need the mod to see my hidden armor?

For them to see the same hidden look, the mod needs to run on the server. Without that, their clients render your armor the normal way even though yours is hidden.

Is Elegant Armour still being maintained?

The last release is from February 2025. The project is quiet since then, so check the project page for current status before building a pack around it on a newer game version.
