Moving Villagers on Llamas

Llamas are the fallback when camels are hard to find, since they spawn in more biomes. Place a carpet on a llama to make it rideable, then guide it close to a villager. The villager mounts the llama automatically once it gets within range, and you lead the caravan to your base. A carpet is all the llama needs, no saddle required.

How Dismounting Works

When you arrive, right-click the mounted villager to dismount them from the camel or llama. The same right-click dismount works for villagers in boats and minecarts, so the mod doubles as a cleanup tool for old transportation leftovers. One small catch: an employed villager may open their trade screen when you right-click to dismount them. Just close the menu and right-click again.

Recent versions removed two older behaviors. Dismounted villagers no longer teleport directly to you, and llamas no longer gain a speed boost when leashed and ridden. If you relied on the teleport trick, plan a short fenced pen at your destination so the villager does not wander off the moment they hit the ground.
