The Handcrafted mod is a decoration mod for Minecraft Java Edition that drops more than 250 furniture pieces into the game, from chairs and tables to trophies, paintings, and full kitchen sets. It comes from the Terrarium team, the same group behind the Chipped mod, and it is built to help you turn a shell of cobblestone into something that actually feels lived in.

You can layer sheets and cushions onto furniture to swap colors, dress tables with trims using a Hammer, and mix fantasy, medieval, steampunk, and vanilla styles in the same room. If you have ever finished a build and then stared at empty rooms wondering what to put inside, this is the mod that fills those gaps.

Furniture and decor categories

Trophies

Display your wins. Handcrafted adds trophy blocks you can place on pedestals or shelves to show off boss kills and milestones.

Kitchen counters and cabinets

Counters, drawers, and cabinets give you a semi-functional kitchen. Several of these blocks double as storage, so the room is not just for show.

Trims and the Hammer

Use the Hammer tool to switch trims between different styles on the fly. It lets you reuse the same block across several builds without crafting a new variant each time.

Bedroom furnishings

Beds, nightstands, bookshelves, and tables round out the bedroom set. Fancy beds behave like vanilla beds but look the part, and two placed side by side form a double bed.

Dishes

Plates, cups, and serving pieces add a tabletop layer that most decoration mods skip.

Paintings

A wide selection of paintings in different sizes and art styles covers bare walls without reaching for vanilla framed art.

Cushions and sheets

Cushions and sheets recolor furniture. Drape a sheet over a table or bed to change its look, then re-dye it when you want a new palette.

How to install Handcrafted

Handcrafted runs on Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge, so pick whichever loader your pack already uses. The steps are the same either way.

  1. Install your loader of choice for your Minecraft version. New to that step? The how to install Minecraft mods guide walks through it.
  2. Grab Resourceful Lib, the required library mod, and drop its jar into your mods folder.
  3. Drop the Handcrafted jar into the same mods folder.
  4. Launch the game with your loader profile and start decorating.

For a Fabric-specific walkthrough, see the Minecraft Fabric overview. If you want more decoration options to pair with Handcrafted, the Dusty Decorations mod and the Decorative Bottles mod both layer in nicely.

Handcrafted FAQ

Does Handcrafted need a library mod?

Yes. Resourceful Lib is required, and the game will not load Handcrafted without it.

Can you sit on the chairs and couches?

Yes. Cushioned chairs and couches are sit-able, so they work as functional seating rather than purely cosmetic blocks.

Does it work on multiplayer servers?

Yes. Handcrafted supports both client and server environments, so everyone on the server sees the same furniture once the mod and Resourceful Lib are installed.

Is Handcrafted still being maintained?

The last release is from March 2025, so check the project page for current status.
